Spray Tan FAQ’s
HOW DO I BOOK?
All bookings are done through THE BEAUTY LAB booking site. Select NICOLE HOAG as your service provider & then select your service! You will be asked to apply a credit card for no show purposes but you will not be charged.
HOW DO I PREPARE FOR MY APPOINTMENT?
please refer to our page called PREP / AFTER CARE.
WHAT DO I WEAR DURING / AFTER A TAN?
During your tan you can wear whatever you like, bikini, bra, thong, naked - we don’t care!
unless you are a guy, we do ask that you wear some sort of covering - underwear, sock, thong.
After your tan, please wear dark loose clothing. No bra, no leggings, and no tight close toed shoes. If you are going to be sleeping in your tan (AKA going to sleep before initial rinse) please wear a long sleeve and pants - this will prevent the palms of your hands getting any solution on them.
HOW LONG DOES A SPRAY TAN LAST?
A Glow by Hoag spray tan can last anywhere from 7-12 days. The preparation for a tan as well as the daily habits of aftercare will greatly factor into the length of your tan lasting and fading evenly. Avoiding soaps and moisturizers that contain alcohols, fragrances, sulfates, parabens, etc. will help to avoid your tan being stripped away. Please see our PREP / AFTERCARE page for tips on how to make your tan last.
HOW DO I TAKE CARE OF MY TAN?
During the processing time of your tan - it is important to avoid water (rain, washing dishes, giving the kids their bath, etc.) until it is time to do your initial rinse that was told to you during your appointment.
During your initial rinse you will only use luke warm water to get all of the bronzers off your skin. You may feel like your entire tan is gone - but it takes 16-24 hours for your tan to fully develop, so please TRUST THE PROCESS.
The next time you shower is when you can start to use soap again. Avoid using a washcloth or loofa & remember to PAT dry with your towel vs. rubbing, and follow up with a moisturizer AM+PM to keep your skin hydrated is key.
LADIES IM SORRY BUT…… skip out on the steamy hot showers, luke warm is best.
WHEN SHOULD I GET A SPRAY TAN?
Your spray tan should be the final step in your beauty treatments, PERIOD. Massages, facials, waxes, shaving, mani/pedis, etc. should all occur 12-48 hours before your appointment. With facials and waxes especially, we want your skin to have a chance to relax and your pores to not be open - 48 hours is ideal for these services.
2 Days before any event - wedding, birthday, graduation, baby shower, bridal shower, etc.
As Close to your Vacation as possible - The night before - or even a few hours before if you are able to squeeze in a RAPID RETREAT or TROPICAL HEAT service!

What Can i expect from the appointment?
Before our session, I'll send you a quick email with a short questionnaire to better understand your color goals—whether you’re refreshing your wardrobe for a special occasion, celebrating a new chapter, or simply wanting a cohesive capsule wardrobe where everything works together.
Please arrive without makeup (I have wipes if needed), and consider wearing contacts instead of glasses if it’s comfortable for you. This helps us see how colors interact with your natural features, allowing us to brighten your eyes, minimize dark circles, and enhance your overall glow.
Also, please avoid any spray tans within a week before our appointment to ensure your natural undertones shine through.
During our time together, we’ll determine whether you lean towards bright or soft shades, cool or warm tones, and dark or light colors. We’ll explore the 12 seasonal palettes to find yours and refine your personalized color palette from over 40 flattering options, including your best neutrals and metals.
You’re welcome to bring clothing items for discussion and try swatches from my selection of seasonal lipsticks. If you prefer, feel free to bring your own makeup!
When you leave, you'll have a handy color card with your season, best colors, metals, and pairings, plus a PDF e-book filled with outfit ideas, hair, and makeup tips.
I’m excited to help you discover your perfect palette! If you have any questions, just reach out.
